On Tuesday 14 May 2024 the Almeida Theatre hosted the next Genesis Conversation: Playwriting Today: The Hard Questions.
Our panel discussed the uniqueness of writing for live performance, the impact of mentorship for both emerging and established writers, and playwrights’ integral need for community.
The discussion was chaired by Rupert Goold (Artistic Director, Almeida Theatre) and featured a panel of David Byrne (Artistic Director, Royal Court Theatre), Nadia Fall (Artistic Director, Stratford East), James Graham (Writer, Dear England; Tammy Faye), Dipo Baruwa-Etti (Writer, The Clinic) and Ava Pickett (Writer, 1536, winner of the 2024 Susan Smith Blackburn Prize).
