This Genesis Conversation, What Next for New Writing, took place at Bristol Old Vic on 30 October 2023. Our panel debunked the myth of new writing as “risk”, debated the term “new writing” itself, and discussed new models to substitute the current lack of literary departments within theatres, particularly in the southwest.
The discussion was chaired by Nancy Medina (Artistic Director, Bristol Old Vic), moderated by Ben Atterbury (New Work Producer, Bristol Old Vic), and featured a panel of Miriam Battye (Writer), Juliet Gilkes Romero (Writer) and George Turvey (Co-founder, Papatango Theatre Company).
